Council seeks views on plans to ensure Melton is a safe place to live, work and visit

Safer Melton Partnership Consultation

Melton Borough Council are asking residents to share their views and help shape the new Safer Melton Partnership strategy.

The Safer Melton Partnership brings together a range of partners including Police, Fire, Health, Councils and voluntary sector partners whose work directly supports the partnerships priority areas, to work collaboratively to develop and implement a community safety strategy designed to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour within our borough.

The consultation will allow residents to share thoughts, suggestions and concerns about being safe in Melton and help shape a new five-year strategy, setting out the key aims and priorities for the Community Safety Partnership over this time. The partnership is keen to hear a range of views from residents and businesses across the borough. To help shape a strategy that can respond to the needs of the borough now and in the future, it would be helpful to receive feedback and views from town centre and rural communities and from a range of age groups.

As well as refreshing its strategy, the Community Safety Partnership has a statutory duty to undertake an annual Crime and Disorder ‘Strategic Assessment’, this will continue to be carried out annually to inform the progress of the strategy, the work of partners and effective delivery of community safety work.

Cllr Sarah Cox, Chair of the Safer Melton Partnership, said: “As a partnership, we want to know your views about how you think we can make Melton a safer place to live, work and visit. Whether you are a resident, a visitor or a business, we know how important it is that you are safe and feel safe in our Borough.

“This is your opportunity to have your say on the things matter to you, so that the Safer Melton Partnership can focus their plans and efforts on these things to ensure Melton is somewhere that everyone feels safe now and in the future.
