Remembrance Parade 2023
The Remembrance Parade will take place on Sunday 12 November 2023 in Melton Mowbray town centre.
Residents are invited to come and show their support to the Armed Forces and recognise their sacrifices, past and present, by watching the parade.
The parade will commence in Chapel Street car park at 10.20am and will head down King Street, Sage Cross Street, Sherrard Street and Church Street to St Mary’s Parish Church for a service starting at 10:50am.
Following the church service at St Mary’s, the parade will re-form at 11:50am in Burton Street and march down Leicester Street, past the dais in the Market Place to the Memorial Gardens where wreaths will be laid in a small ceremony.
Melton Borough Council have planned the event in collaboration with the Royal British Legion, Defence Animal Training Regiment, Melton Mowbray Town Estate, Melton Police, Melton Lions and St Mary’s Church. The Melton Band will lead the parade and will be joined by representation from the Armed Forces, Royal British Legion, Royal Airforce Association, Royal Army Veterinary Corps Association, Army, Air and Police Cadets along with Scouts, Guides and local clubs and representation from the Polish Community.
Throughout the event, road closures will be in place in Melton Mowbray Town Centre, for the safety of all those involved. These will start at 10am and all roads should be open again at 1pm. Full details of the road closures are on the Leicestershire County Council website at https://www.leicestershire.gov.uk/roads-and-travel/road-maintenance/roadworks-closures-and-diversions
