Final chance to have your say on the Local Plan update
Melton Borough Council are in the final stages of updating the Local Plan and are encouraging anyone with an interest to share their views.
Every five-years the Council are required to review the Local Plan, which sets out the council’s vision and aims for the development of the Borough, focusing on housing, employment, climate change, health and infrastructure.
The last review in 2023 indicated that a partial update was required to ensure the policies remain effective and that they reflect the changes to national guidance.
Following this review, the council ran a consultation in November 2023 to seek local views on the Local Plan and has used that feedback to develop an updated Local Plan for Melton Borough.
The Council are now giving residents, businesses and organisations the chance to review the updated Local Plan and have a final say before it is submitted to the Secretary of State, who will consider the Plan and decide whether it should be adopted.
Cllr Margaret Glancy Portfolio Holder for Governance, Environment and Regulatory Services, said “We want to thank everyone who engaged in our previous Local Plan consultation in 2023. We have used this valuable feedback to develop the new updated Local Plan.
“The Local Plan plays a huge part in how we can develop our borough in the future and we want to give our communities a chance to view the updated Plan before we submit it to the Secretary of State. This is the last time we expect to be consulting the public on the updated Local Plan, so we encourage everyone who is interested to take part in the consultation.”
The consultation will run until 11:59pm on 28 February 2025.
Residents, businesses and organisations can get involved by completing the consultation online at www.haveyoursay.melton.gov.uk.
