Residents invited to view plans for Melton leisure facilities
Melton Borough Council and Everyone Active are inviting residents to view the plans for the upcoming investment into the two council owned leisure centres.
In December last year, the Council agreed to invest £1.75million into Waterfield Leisure Centre and Melton Sports Village to significantly improve and enhance the current facilities and create a sustainable and affordable future for leisure, ensuring that there is no closure of either facility.
Together with Everyone Active, who will continue to manage and operate both centres , the council are planning to showcase the proposals and designs for the redevelopment of the leisure centres.
Residents and users of the leisure centres are encouraged to come and view the plans on Monday 22 January. Representatives from both the Council and Everyone Active will be at the event to answer any questions people may have about the project and new designs.
The two Drop-in sessions will run on Monday 22 January at Melton Borough Council, Parkside Offices:
- Drop-in Session 1: 12:00noon – 2:00pm
- Drop-in Session 2: 4:00pm - 6:00pm
Cllr Pip Allnatt, Leader of the Council, said: “Leisure facilities are an important part of our community and the plans that have been developed will see vital upgrades take place at the sites alongside new additions to the leisure facilities being installed.
“I am just so relieved that we have been able to prevent our centres from closing altogether, deal with current problems, and protect our support for the schools in our Borough to deliver their curriculum. We can do this without adding to the council tax burden and provide a springboard for even better sports facilities in the future.
“We are pleased to be able to share the plans and concept art with our community and showcase what the new and exciting leisure offer will look like. I encourage anyone who is interested in the future of the leisure provision or who wants to know more to pop down and speak to us and our partners at Everyone Active about it.”
Simon Fearn, Everyone Active’s Regional Contract Manager, said: “This is an extremely exciting time for leisure in Melton and we are really looking forward to showcasing the redevelopment of Melton Sports Village and Waterfield Leisure Centre.
“Serving communities is at the heart of what we do and we want to help people of all ages, abilities and interests to get active. This investment in state-of-the-art facilities will improve health and well-being locally for many years to come.”
