The Mayor
Councillor Tim Webster is the Mayor for the Melton Borough for 2024-2025.
Councillor Webster was educated in Melton Mowbray at the Sarson High School and King Edward VII Upper School.
In 1985 Councillor Webster joined the Melton Mowbray Market and he became the only Auctioneer to have sold in every section of the Melton Mowbray Market; Eggs, Cade Lambs and Goats and Cull Ewes.
Livestock auctions have been a major part of Councillor Webster’s 35-year career, specialising in cattle and Finished Cattle and the last 25 years he has worked at Melton Mowbray Market.
Over the past 3-5 years, Councillor Webster has also been selling sheep at Norwich Livestock Market and Rugby Livestock Market.
Other than auctioneering, Councillor Webster has dealt with sorting welfare issues, meetings with Animal Health, Trading Standards, managed biosecurity and Drover training and is currently a member of the Livestock Auctioneers Association (LAA).
Councillor Webster has been a Trustee of Melton (Feoffee) for over 16 years and recently held the post of Senior Town Warden for the Melton Town Estate which is a charity trusted with several millions of pounds to benefit Melton Mowbray. Councillor Webster is also a trustee for the Hudson and Storer Charity which helps less fortunate citizens of Melton with places to live and gives handouts to worthy charities.
Councillor Webster is a keen sportsman and has represented Melton Mowbray at Football and Cricket over the years and has also represented Leicestershire over-40’s Cricket several times. Councillor Webster achieved an English Cricket Board Coaching Level 1 and has coached and managed the under-11 and under-18's junior cricket teams at Thorpe Arnold.
Councillor Webster and Sally-Anne were married in St Mary’s Church in September 1990. They have one son and one grandchild, born May 2024. Sally-Anne was born in Surrey and moved to Melton when she was 10 years old. Sally-Anne enjoyed a career in retail after leaving school and was the Manageress of the Chocolate Box in Melton before moving to Morrisons where she progressed from check out operator to Store Manager at Clifton and Bulwell then Manager at the B&M store in Nottingham. She has now taken a step back and is working at a café locally in Asfordby. Sally-Anne is a member of local book club.

- Due to high demand it may not be possible to attend every event to which the Mayor or Deputy Mayor is invited
- Invitations are usually accepted on a first come, first served basis, but there are occasionally exceptions to this
- To avoid disappointment, the more notice you give the better

The Mayoral year runs from 16 May 2024 until the Annual Council meeting on 15 May 2025.
