Purpose of the job

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic individual to join the Melton Borough Council Democratic Services team as a Democratic Services Officer.

The role will support the democratic and governance processes of the Council and help ensure that decisions can be taken effectively and lawfully. This will involve co-ordinating and servicing meetings of the Council’s committees and will include preparing and publishing agendas, minutes, decision notices and the forward plan. The role also includes support for elected members and advice to elected members and senior managers in relation to the Council’s decision-making process and the Constitution.

About you

The right person will need to demonstrate an enthusiastic and systematic approach, strong administrative skills and will be able to prioritise workloads and be able to meet strict deadlines. IT literacy is required. Ideally applicants will have some working knowledge of the democratic process, however this is not essential as training will be provided.

There is an opportunity for hybrid working, however there will be a requirement to attend some evening meetings.
