What your Council Tax pays for
We receive 9% of the total Council Tax collected from each household.
The rest is distributed to the County Council, Police, Fire and local parish councils. The portion we receive pays for many services, including:
- Waste Collection and Disposal
- Planning services
- Environmental and regulatory services
- Housing
- Cultural and Related services
- Central Services
- Children and Education Services
Many local authorities publish guides detailing Council Tax they raise and where it is spent. See below to find the local authority you want to find out more about and download their guide.
