Moving house

You will need to tell us if:

  • You are moving into the Melton area
  • You are moving out of the Melton area
  • You are moving within the Melton area
  • If the whole household is moving out
  • If the number of people living in the household is changing

How to contact us

We are currently experiencing technically difficulties with our change of address form. If you need to tell us about an update, please email customer services at contactus@melton.gov.uk.

Please include the following information in your email.

The address you are moving out of:

  • Is this property owned or rented
  • The date the tenancy ended / house completed
  • The date you moved out the property
  • Is everyone in the household moving to the new property

The new address:

  • Is this property owned or rented
  • The start of tenancy / completion date
  • Date you moved in
  • Who is living in the property / are you the only person over 18.

When you move home you may not be liable for the Council Tax on your old home, but will become responsible for the Council Tax on your new home. You should let us know as soon as possible so that we can adjust your bill.

Number of people living in the household is changing

If someone is moving in or out of the household you need to inform us. You will need to speak to our Customer Services by either calling 01664 502 502, by emailing contactus@melton.gov.uk or by completing the contact form at the bottom of this page.
